Bhubaneswar: Former cricketer of Odisha Santanu Satpathy passed away due to age-related complications on Tuesday.
He was bed-ridden for nearly eight months, informed Santanu’s former colleague RN Satpathy, Executive Director of Trident Group of Institutions.
Born on March 10, 1943, Santanu has played cricket in Ranji Trophy level for Odisha, UP and Andhra, and for East Zone against England and Pakistan.
Santanu has served in the India Defence Service of Engineers and also worked in various capacities in government and private organisations.
He has held different posts in academic institutions such as Orissa Engineering College, Seemanta Engineering College, Trident Group of Institutions.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his grief on the demise of Santanu. “Santanu’s reputation as a cricketer will always be remembered. My condolences to the bereaved family and I pray for the well-being of his immortal soul,” said Naveen.
