Bhubaneswar: Universities in the state will become a hub of sports and cultural activities from October 10. The state public universities under the jurisdiction of the higher education department will hold the Inter-University Sports and Cultural Activities Competition 2023-24. The objective is to promote physical fitness, teamwork and cultural talent among students of higher education institutions in the state.
The state government has issued guidelines for this event.
Competitions will be conducted at the higher education institution level from October 10-15. Winners from the institution level will compete at the university level from November 1-10. Later, winners from the university level will compete at the state level from December 1-10.
Students will take part in sports along with cultural and literary events. Each higher education institution and university will have its own selection process to determine the representatives for the subsequent levels of competition. “All expenses of university-level meet shall be borne by the respective universities,” according to Mousumi Nayak, joint secretary of the higher education department in a letter to registrars of the universities.
“This competition will promote fitness and develop cultural sense among students,” said Sanjay Kumar Satapathy, vice-chancellor of Kalahandi University.
