Jagatsinghpur: Jagatsinghpur district on Saturday reported 13 new COVID-19 positive cases, the highest count in a single day. Following this, the district’s cumulative total went up to 143.
According to sources, 12 cases were reported from quarantine centres and one from the isolation facility at the Jagatsinghpur District Headquarters Hospital.
All the new patients are returnees from other states. These include five from Maharashtra, three each from Tamil Nadu and Delhi and one each from Haryana and Gujarat.
Sources said seven of the new patients hailed from Balikuda, four from Tirtol and one each from Nuagaon and Paradeep.
Sources said the contact tracing of the infected persons is continuing. The primary contacts and nearby houses are being quarantined, sanitised and kept under surveillance, they added.
At present, the district has 57 active cases and 86 have recovered so far.
