Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Jyotiranjan Barik has emerged as the All India topper in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), the results of which were announced by Indian Institute of Technology on Sunday.
Barik, a student of Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), clinched the top rank by securing an overall score of 959 in agricultural engineering paper in the examination.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan congratulated Barik and wished him all the best for his success through their twitter handles.
Aiming to become a scientist, Barik, a resident of Phulnakhara in Cuttack district, hopes to pursue M.Tech in soil and water conservation engineering from IIT, Kharagpur and then study PhD.
Similarly, Prashant Gupta of Lucknow and Namita Kalra from Uttarkhand are All India topper in Chemistry and Computer Science Engineering respectively.
