Kendrapada: In the wake of demand from BJP and Congress, Odisha Kendrapada district authorities have declared January 17 and 22 as dry days.
As per a notification issued by Kendrapada collector Amrit Ruturaj on Tuesday, all liquor shops in the district will remain closed on January 17 for inauguration of Sri Mandir Parikrama Prakalpa in Puri and on January 22 for consecration of Ram Temple at Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh.
On Monday, the leaders of BJP and Congress, in video messages, had wished the people of the people for the celebration on the two days. They also appealed to the state government to declare dry day on the two occasions.

Similarly, senior BJP leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jaya Narayana Mishra on Tuesday urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to declare public holiday on January 22.
The state government has already declared public holiday on January 17 for inauguration of heritage corridor project at Jagannath temple in Puri.
