Bhubaneswar: With 3,543 more persons testing positive for COVID-19 in Odisha on Saturday, Khurda district reported the all-time highest single-day spike of 878.
The district has now 20,618 infected cases with 7,816 active cases. While 13,669 have recovered from the deadly virus infection in the district, 74 succumbed to it.
Khurda district has been witnessing a steady rise in COVID-19 cases for the last 15 days. It reported a record 878 positive cases on Saturday. Since August 26, over 500 cases are being reported daily from the district, totalling 7827.

The district has surpassed Ganjam in terms of the daily spike from August 7.
The total positive cases in Khurda (20,618) crossed Ganjam (18544). Ganjam, however, leads with 200 COVID-19 deaths. In case of recovery rate also, Ganjam (17,374) is ahead of Khurda (12,718).
It is worth mentioning that 50,663 samples were tested in the state on Saturday. So far 20,48,008 tests have been conducted in the state.
