Bhubaneswar: Lavanya Das has made Odisha proud by winning 3 awards, Best Fantasy National Costume, Best Outstanding Achiever 2018 and Best Folk Dancer, at the recently concluded ‘Prince and Princess International’ in Thailand.
She was the only ambassador to represent India in the pre-teen category of the international beauty pageant for children. A total of 20 countries took part in the contest held between July 25 and 31 at Phuket.
The costume that won her the award was designed by Pattachitra artist Sasmita Hota and designers Binoy Munda, Motialu Dalai and Upendra Purohit with inputs from her parents and grandmother.
This Class X student of Unit-8 DAV Public School made it to the contest following an online interview with Arun Ratna, founder of Kerala-based talent hunt group Junior Model International.
Lavanya, who had earlier won Miss Pre Teen International 2017, Junior Model International in Kochi, Miss Odisha in Swagatika pageant competition, aims to become an IAS officer.
“Lavaya sincerely attended talent-round classes at Blue Light Dance Studio in Bhubaneswar while Anni and Rehan Mohammad coached her on walking on the ramp,” said her mother, Lipika Das.
