Bhubaneswar: Odisha junior international tennis player Aahan has become India No. 1 in Girls’ U-14 category.
One of Odisha’s brightest young tennis talents, Aahan has a tally of 1259.25 points in the latest rankings list issued by All India Tennis Association (AITA).
The 13-year-old Aahan justified her new status by clinching a double crown — singles and doubles titles — at the KSLTA Asian U-14 meet in Bengaluru.
In April this year, Aahan became the first girl from Odisha to lift a singles title in an AITA National Series U-16 tournament. She also finished runner-up in girls’ doubles in the tournament held at Hyderabad’s Sania Mirza Tennis Academy.
In March, Aahan claimed the U-14 singles and doubles crowns in the AITA meet at the same venue.
She was earlier ranked No. 1 in the country in girls’ under-12 category.
