Odisha’s ‘Mukhya Mantri Bayu Swasthya Seva’ Provides Super-Speciality Health Care In Malkangiri

Bhubaneswar: In a major step to strengthen healthcare access in remote areas, a team of specialist doctors from SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) is in Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) under Odisha government’s ‘Mukhyamantri Bayu Swasthya Seva’ initiative.

The visiting medical team, which reached the district on Monday, will be in Malkangiri until August 21, offering specialist consultations, treatments, and surgeries to the local population.

The team includes Dr Jyotirmay Nayak from the Laparoscopic Surgery Department, Dr D Lenka from Nephrology, Dr S Sahu from Neurology, and Dr Raj Mohapatra, accompanied by their assistants. They began initial patient examinations early this morning.

By afternoon, over 250 patients from various parts of the district had registered to avail the services. Officials anticipate that the number will rise significantly in the coming days.

The medical team is currently conducting preliminary examinations and compiling patient records. Based on these assessments, necessary treatments and surgical interventions will be carried out following the arrival of additional senior specialists tomorrow.

Locals have expressed their gratitude to the state government and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for launching such a crucial healthcare initiative in one of Odisha’s most remote districts. The programme is expected to bridge critical gaps in specialist healthcare access.
