Bhubaneswar: Nandankanan Zoological Park, on outskirts of Bhubaneswar, on Wednesday lost an aged zoo-born male hybrid lion, ‘Krish’.
According to zoo authorities, condition of the 20-year-old lion deteriorated on July 26 and it was continuously under geriatric palliative treatment. Despite best efforts by dedicated veterinary doctors and support team, it was unable to recover and walk properly. Krish’s condition continued to decline and it finally breathed its last around 9 am.
Krish was born on June 16, 2004, and sired two litters – Kalpana and Jeet – with Radha in 2015 and 2017 respectively. It was a one of the major attractions for people visiting the zoo.
