Bhubaneswar: Odisha Power Generation Corporation Ltd (OPGC) has secured the top rank among state sector power generators, demonstrating exceptional operational excellence and reliability.
According to performance data up to May 2026, OPGC ranked 1st among all state-owned power producers nationwide. It also placed 10th overall across both government and private sectors and secured 6th p
osition among large power stations with capacity exceeding 1,000 MW.
These rankings reflect the company’s strong Plant Load Factor (PLF), a key indicator of power plant performance. The achievement is attributed to the strategic guidance and unwavering support of Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Energy KV Singh Deo. His vision to strengthen the state’s energy sector and promote self-reliance has provided fresh impetus to OPGC’s operations, a government release said.
It further stated that OPGC’s consistent high performance demonstrates its focus on efficient power generation, proactive plant maintenance, and the dedication of its operational workforce. “The company continues to play a vital role in meeting the rising electricity demand in Odisha while upholding industry-leading standards. This success not only reinforces OPGC’s position as a premier power producer in the country but also marks a significant step toward a more robust and self-sufficient energy ecosystem in the state,” it added.
