Bhubaneswar: The Mechanised Coal Handling Plant (MCHP) of Paradip Port Authority (PPA) has achieved a significant operational milestone by recording its highest-ever single-day coal loading of 1,40,022 metric tonnes (MT) on October 10 across two vessels, M V APJ Indraniand M V Ripley Pinnacle.
Officials said the latest achievement surpasses the previous record of 1,37,500 MT, achieved on May 29, 2022 through the loading operations of MV Arethousa and MV ISL Star. The new record marks an increase of 2,522 MT over the previous benchmark, reflecting improved operational efficiency and enhanced cargo-handling performance at Paradip Port.
Susanta Kumar Purohit, Chairperson of PPA, congratulated all the workers, officers and personnel associated with the Mechanised Coal Handling Plant (MCHP) for achieving the new single-day loading record of 1,40,022 MT on 10 October 2026.
He appreciated their dedication, teamwork and commitment to operational excellence, stating that this remarkable achievement reflects the collective efforts of the port workforce and their contribution towards enhancing productivity and operational efficiency at Paradip Port.
The milestone highlights the operational capabilities of MCHP and the coordinated efforts of the port’s workforce in ensuring efficient cargo handling and vessel operations. It also reflects Paradip Port Authority’s continued focus on improving productivity, optimising infrastructure utilisation and facilitating faster cargo movement.
This remarkable achievement further reinforces Paradip Port’s journey towards becoming a leading Mega Port, reflecting its growing cargo-handling capacity, enhanced operational efficiency and increasing significance in India’s maritime trade. It represents another important step towards strengthening Paradip Port’s position as a major maritime hub on the eastern coast of India, said officials.
