Odisha’s Pramod Bhagat Clinches Gold At ENESCUP 2019

Bhubaneswar: Pramod Bhagat, an ace para shuttler from Bargarh district of Odisha, has bagged gold in the finals of the para badminton men’s single’s event at the 5th Turkish Para Badminton International, ENESCUP 2019, at Antalya in Turkey on Saturday. He beat Japan’s Daisuke Fujihara 21-19 21-17.

The event was held from March 24 to March 30. Pramod wasn’t as lucky in the men’s double event at the same tournament on Friday. Pairing with Manoj Sarkar, he lost to Indonesian duo Dwiyoko Dwiyoko and Fredy Setiawan, 21-12 11-21 21-12.

He had won two bronze medals in the last edition of the same tournament in Konya city, Turkey last year.

Pramod clinched two golds and a silver medal at the IWAS World Games in Sharjah last month. He is among the five para badminton players to have been shortlisted by Mission Olympic Cell of Sports Authority of India for Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) in preparation of Tokyo 2020- Paralympic Games.
