Sundargarh: Pratik Naik of Odisha’s Sundargarh district has secured the eighth rank in the Indian Statistical Service (ISS) Examination 2023 conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), bringing pride to the state.
Pratik, a postgraduate from Banaras Hindu University, had his primary education at Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir in his home town Balisankara and high school at Giringakela High School in Sundargarh. He did his graduation from BJB College in Bhubaneswar and thereafter underwent coaching for the ISS examination in Lucknow.
Pratik cleared the UPSC on his second attempt.
Attributing his success to hard work, perseverance, and the blessings of his elders and teachers, Pratik says he studied for at least 6-7 hours every day to crack the exam. “Whatever responsibilities I will be entrusted with by the Government of India, I will execute it properly,” he said speaking to the media.
His parents Jai Bihari Naik and Pratima Chowdhury are teachers by profession.
UPSC declared the Indian Economic Service (IES) and Indian Statistical Service 2023 results on January 25. The commission has selected 18 candidates for IES and 33 for ISS. The marks of candidates recommended for IES and ISS were released on its website on Tuesday.
