Koraput: For better and effective management of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Rayagada district administration has formed as many as 12 dedicated teams for monitoring and reporting of various COVID-19 related works across the district.

Each team consisting of three to four members will look after the functioning of Covid health centre and dead body disposal, ambulance, testing, hospital, oxygen supply, vaccination, requirement of doctor and para medical staffs and border check points among others on a daily basis.

“The aim of forming separate dedicated teams is to ensure swift action and effective COVID-19 management in a coordinated manner. The dedicated team will look after their particular sector on a daily basis and each day by 6 pm they will report to the designated nodal officer for necessary action,” said collector (Rayagada) Saroj Kumar Mishra.

Besides this, the administration has established at least 15 border checkpoints (BCP) along Odisha-Andhra Pradesh to restrict inter-state movement of people.

“The BCPs have been erected on national-highway, state-highway and village roads of the district to have a strict vigil of people entering inside the district from bordering AP,” the collector said.

According to the collector, adequate staff has been deployed at the BCPs that will function 24×7. Also, special squads have been formed to have a vigil on the interior roads in remote areas connecting to AP to check people entering inside the district.

“Our weekend door-to-door survey is on across the district to identify people with Covid-19 symptoms and required treatment is provided to the suspected patients,” the collector said.

Rayagada recorded 137 fresh cases on Saturday.
