Bhubaneswar: Sachin Behera, who holds the world record for making the highest number of knee strikes in a minute, has achieved yet another feat. He has now made it to the Asia Book of Records. He claims to have set the new record for “Maximum One-Leg Full Contact Knee Strikes Wearing 1 Kg Ankle Weights in One Minute (Male) – 103 Counts.”
A native of Nuapada district, Behera made his first Guinness World Record in 2019 for 137 Knee Strikes in One Minute (Both Legs). He made his second world record in 2022. For his records, he is often dubbed as Knee Striker of India.
The recent record was conducted this month at Overall Sports Academy in Bhubaneswar. Behera claimed that the record was officially confirmed by Asia Book of Records on Sept 25, 2026 via an email.
Behera holds a bachelor degree in physiotherapy from Hi-Tech Medical College & Hospital, Bhubaneswar. He is currently pursuing his Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) in Orthopedics from the same college.
“Being a sprinter, knee strikes were part of my regular practice. I focused on knee strike speed under the guidance of Soumya Ranjan Das. This history in Asia Book of Records is the result of months of hard work,” he said
Behera has also won several medals in sprinting at the state and national level. The record was witnessed by Soumya Ranjan Das, Krupasindhu Barik and Sandeep Patnaik, the time keeper.
