Cuttack: The authorities of SCB Medical College and Hospital here on Tuesday strongly refuted the reports about bursting of the pipeline of the gas plant at the Cardiothoracic department.
Emergency Officer of the hospital Dr Bhubananda Moharana said, “No pipeline in the hospital has burst. It was misreported. The panel board of the gas plant of the Cardiothoracic Department has developed defects.”
He clarified that on the intervening night of Sunday-Monday, the panel board of the gas plant attached to the Cardiothoracic Department developed snags. The panel board company was informed and its technical personnel are working on it.
Stating that every gas plant has an emergency system which works immediately in case of a snag, the officer said they wanted to be 100% sure since the panel board had developed defects.
“The panel board will be ready soon and on Wednesday, we can take up surgery of the patients whose surgery which was scheduled for Tuesday,” said Dr Moharana.
He asserted that no patient of the ICU and the Cardiothoracic department has been shifted.
Earlier on the day, it was reported that ICU of the prestigious hospital was closed and the open heart surgery at the Operation Theatre (OT) stopped after a portion of the oxygen pipe at the Cardiothoracic ward went off.
