Odisha’s Similipal National Park Closed For 2 Days Amid Heavy Rain Warning

Baripada: The Similipal National Park in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district has been closed for tourists for two days in view of heavy rain and thunderstorms in the region.

In order to ensure the safety of visitors, the Simlipal Tiger Reserve (STR) authorities decided to keep the national park shut on Saturday and Sunday.

Regional Chief Conservator of Similipal and Field Director of STR Prakash Chand Gogineni the park will remain closed until further notice.

The situation will be reviewed, and tourists may be allowed to enter the park once the weather improves. Gogineni in a notification said that the exact date of reopening will be notified and published later.

Tourists planning to visit the park are advised to check with the park authorities for updates on the park’s status before planning their trip.

It may be noted that the Similipal sanctuary is a popular tourist destination known for its rich biodiversity and wildlife. The park is also home to several waterfalls, including the Barehipani Waterfall, which is one of the highest waterfalls in India.
