Odisha’s Similipal National Park Closed For Indefinite Period

Baripada: Barely a fortnight after being reopened, the entry to Similipal National Park in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district was restricted from Monday due to unseasonal rain and foggy conditions.

“The wildlife sanctuary will remain out of bounds for visitors from November 15 till further order,” informed Similipal National Park Deputy Director Sai Kiran D.N.

After a gap of almost six months, the park had opened its gates for tourists on November 1 amid strict adherence to COVID-19 protocol.

Notably, the state has been witnessing thundershowers for the past few years under the influence of low pressure over the Bay and Bengal. The Met Office has forecast rain till November 18.
