Odisha’s Similipal National Park Reopens For Tourists; Check Rules & Restrictions

Baripada: Similipal National Park in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district threw open its gates for visitors on Saturday.

The reopening of the park, which remains shut for tourists every year for four months from June 15 in view of the arrival of monsoon, was preponed this year. It usually welcomed back visitors on November 1.

Notably, the southwest monsoon withdrew from entire Odisha on Friday.

RULES & RESTRICTIONS

>> At a particular point in time, 35 four-wheelers with tourists can enter the Tiger Reserve of the national park from Kaliani entry point in Jashipur and 25 vehicles from Pithabata entry point in Baripada division for smooth movement of tourists.

>> Booking facilities to enter into the park will be available for tourists from 6 am to 9 pm at these two gates.”

>> Those interested to visit Deokund can get a ticket from the first counter from 6 am to 2 pm. The tourists will have to leave Deokund by 4 pm everyday. Similarly, the deadlines at Joranda and Barehipani and Chahala are 3 pm and 4 pm, respectively. safety. The tourists must leave the entry points by 5 pm, it further said.

>> If a  tourist vehicle develops a technical snag, visitors will have to pay Rs 4,000 and avail the vehicles provided by the STR. If the vehicle operator is found breaching the norms, he will have to pay fine of Rs 4,000 or his vehicle will not be permitted into the park.

>> Visitors can’t take plastic bottles, intoxicants, non-veg food items, and inflammatory products along with them while visiting the park.

>> Tourists can stay at night at cottages inside the park at Jamuani, Ramtirtha and Kumari.

Spread over 2750 sq km, Similipal National Park is one of the largest tiger reserves in India and home to a number of wildlife species. Besides rare melanistic tigers, leopards, Asian elephants, sambar, barking deer, gaur, jungle cat, wild boar, four-horned antelope and giant squirrel are seen here. It is also dotted with a wide variety of flora and fauna, lush greenery, biodiversity, striking meadows, and breathtaking waterfalls.
