Odisha’s Similipal Tiger Reserve To Be Closed To Visitors For 3 Months From This Date

Baripada: The Odisha government has announced that the tiger reserve at Similipal in Mayurbhanj district will remain closed to visitors for three months.

In a notification on Tuesday, Prakash Chand Gogineni, Field Director, Similipal Tiger Reserve, said the tiger reserve will remain closed for tourists and visitors from June 16 to September 15 in accordance with regular management practice.

Since the government keeps the tiger reserve closed for 4 months every year, Gogineni has clarified that the reopening date is tentative. The final date of the reopening would be notified and published in newspapers to inform the visitors subsequently.

The Field Director, however, said the eco-tourism complex at Jamani, Gurgudia, Kumari and Ramtirtha inside the sanctuary will remain open for visitors during the period.
