Bhubaneswar: The Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar for the year 2019 was declared on Friday and Odisha’s Sisira Behera is among the recipients of this prestigious award conferred on young writers.
He was picked for his book ‘Bimugdha Uccharana’.
He will receive Rs 50,000 cash prize and an engraved copper-plaque.
Notably, the Akademi has been giving this award to the young writers below the age 35 since 2011.
Earlier, Gayatribala Panda, Sutrishri Nayak, Khetrabasi Nayak, Narendra Kumar Bhoi, Sujit Panda, Gyani Debashis Mishra, Suryasnata Tripathy and Jayadratha Suna from Odisha had received the award.
Besides, Sahitya Akademi’s Bal Puraskar has also been announced. Writer Birendra Samantray has been selected to receive the award in Odia language.
