Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Friday appointed Bimalendu Ray as collector of Sonepur district, replacing the present incumbent Suryanarayan Dash.
An OAS officer, Ray was serving as special secretary at the Works Department.
“In exercise of the powers conferred under section 20(1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973 (Act II of 1974), the State Government do hereby appoint Shri Bimalendu Ray, OAS (SS) as the District Magistrate in the district of Sonepur,” an official notification issued by the General Administration & Public Grievance Department said.
Ray was earlier posted as Joint Secretary, Cooperation Department, Joint Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation and Deputy Commissioner of Sambalpur Municipal Corporation.
