Bhubaneswar: Odisha cycling star Swasti Singh won three more silver medals on the second and last day of the Asmita Khelo India Women’s Cycling League Track Event (North Zone) at GNDU Cycling Velodrome in Amritsar, Punjab on Saturday. She secured the three silver medals in 3 km individual pursuit, keirin and scratch race.
With these three silvers, Swasti ended the two-day Khelo India track event with a total of five medals. Earlier on the opening day, she bagged gold in 500m individual time trial and silver in 200m sprint. The five medals in the track event followed the two gold and one silver she claimed at the Khelo India North Zone Road Events, which were held in Sonipat, Haryana, and Amritsar, Punjab, between August 30 and September 4.
With the three silvers , Rourkela cyclist Swasti has increased her total Khelo India Women League medals to 22, including 13 this year. Her seven-year-long career haul is now studded with 55 national and international medals.
A trainee of Patiala-based SAI National Centre of Excellence, Swasti missed the scratch race gold medal by a whisker. Meenakshi won the gold with a time of 18:30.125, while Swasti settled for silver, clocking 18:30.126.
Meenakshi went on to clinch a treble, bagging gold medals in 3 km individual pursuit and keirin as well with timings of 4:04.990 and 13.165 respectively. Swasti clocked 4:09.265 in individual pursuit and 13.419 in keirin.
