Sambalpur: Setting an example for many during this crisis, tribal villagers of Dangapal village under Odisha’s Jujumora village on Friday contributed Rs 27,000 from their savings to PM Cares Fund.
As per reports, they handed over a cheque of Rs 27,000 to Jujumora BDO on Saturday.
The village, located 35 km from Sambalpur, has 300 households, out of which 200 families belong to tribals. While most of the villagers are daily wage labourers, some depend on agriculture also for income.
The lowest donation from the village was Rs 2, while the maximum was Rs 2,222.
A villager Jayant Pradhan said, “As its citizens, it is our duty to help the country tide over this crisis. We cannot do much except adhering to social distancing and contributing to the national cause.”
Members of Utsav Parivar Social and Cultural Trust of the village collected the donation from the villagers.
