Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Friday launched helpline numbers to assist women traveling in buses.
Women passengers can call 100/ 0674-2543541 or 9437581575 to report harassment or any issues that they face while commuting. They can also message on a WhatsApp number- 9437581575 for the same.
It is often observed that women avoid reporting such incidents because of lack of action. Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi announced that police will take immediate action against such miscreants.
The state government recently decided to penalize male passengers sitting on seats meant for women.
