Bhubaneswar: Odisha has the lowest unemployment rate in the country at 1 per cent, according to Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) data.
The unemployment rate in Odisha dropped to 1 per cent in February 2022, CMIE data shows. Bihar has the highest unemployment rate at 14 per cent.
Overall, the unemployment rate in India in February was 7.5 per cent. In rural areas, it was 7.2 per cent while in urban areas it was 8.1 per cent.
CMIE is a non-government entity that works as an economic think-tank.
In December last year, Minister of State for Labour and Employment Rameswar Teli had informed the Lok Sabha that unemployment rate in the country was 4.8 per cent for 2019-20.
Odisha’s unemployment rate was 6.2 per cent in 2019-20, 7 per cent in 2018-19 and 7.1 per cent in 2017-18.
