Burla: An assistant professor of Veer Surender Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) in Odisha’s Burla has been handed over compulsory retirement for alleged misconduct and breach of discipline.
The varsity informed the press that the decision was taken on February 27.
The assistant professor has been identified as Siba Prasad Panigrahi of Electrical Engineering department of the University. The head of the department has also been directed to de-register him from the university records.
Sources said that he was found abusing University authorities using unparliamentary language on social media.
It is pertinent to mention here that he was earlier suspended for two years for misconduct and behavioural issues. He was also reportedly removed from the job at the educational institute he was working at before joining VSSUT.
In October 2023, the university had taken similar action against Sasmita Padhi, an assistant professor of Computer Application department over disciplinary issues.
