Bhubaneswar: Odisha athletes made their presence felt in national-level wushu and karate tournaments recently.
Thanks to their highly creditable efforts, Odisha bagged 2 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals at the 22nd Junior National Wushu Championship at Patna’s Patliputra Sports Complex.
Babulu Munda & Swetarani Mahanta bagged gold, Sumitra Munda & Prem Munda earned silver, while Rajkumar Munda, Pratik Kumar Mohapatra, Payal Pattanaik, Ashish Dhirdeo Samanta & Nupur Pattanaik got bronze in the Junior Nationals which concluded yesterday.
Odisha karatekas excelled on the opening day of 17th All India Independence Cup Karate Championship at Delhi’s Talkatora Indoor Stadium.
They claimed 3 gold (D Bhagaban Reddy, Sindhu Tanaya Khuntia, Loma Swain); 1 silver (Krushna Chandra Nayak) and 3 bronze (Trinath Rana, Susmini Paltasingh 2).
