15th International Chausathi Yogini Festival Held
Bhubaneswar: Odissi dance by noted exponent Prativa Panda and bhajan and ghazal recital by well-known singer Anup Jalota featured in the 15th International Chausathi Yogini Festival that concluded in the city recently.
The other highlights of the programmes, hosted by Nrutya Prativa, were group Odissi dance by Pragnya Nrutyayan and Nrutya Prativa, Gotipua dance by the artistes of Aradhana Dance Academy under the tutelage of Guru Chitrasen Swain and solo Odissi dance by Guru Gajendra Panda. The highlight of the programmes was exceptional articulation of Nabarasa through her Abhinaya by Prativa Panda.
On the occasion, Anup Jalota was presented Chausathi Yogini Sangeet Samman for his lifetime contributions to music. Odissi Guru Gajendra Panda was conferred Chausathi Yogini Nrutya Samman, while theatre veteran Subodh Patnaik was presented Chausathi Yogini Natya Samman.
Similarly, Chausathi Yogini Chitrakala Samman was conferred on famous painter Subrat Mallick, Chausathi Yogini Sahitya Samman on renowned litterateur Dr Padmaj Pal and Chausathi Yogini Yuba Sahitya Samman on upcoming writer Suman Dash.
Two books entitled “The Yogini Poems: Love and Life” and “The Yoginis of Ranipur Jharial: Tantric Goddesses of Yore” written by Dr Adyasha Das were released.
Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patra, former MP Prasanna Kumar Patasani, eminent sculptor Sudarshan Sahoo, chairman of World Odisha Society Kishore Dwibedi, senior engineer Bipin Kumar Nayak and director of Ardent Steel Dr Subhashis Das were among prominent guests.
Dr Srinibash Ghatuary and Soma Mohapatra conducted the proceedings.
