Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) on Thursday announced that it has decided to keep power tariff unchanged by rejecting the petitions of Odisha Hydro Power Corporation (OHPC) and Orissa Power Generation Corporation (OPGC).
OHPC and OPGC along with Grid Corporation of Odisha (GRIDCO) had moved the OERC seeking an increase in electricity tariff after it was hiked by 10 paise per unit on March 23 this year. They had demanded an average electricity tariff hike of Rs 2 per unit.
Hearing the petitions filed by OHPC and OPGC this morning, the OERC rejected their pleas. However, the petition filed by GRIDCO is due for hearing by the commission.
“OHPC had asked for income tax reimbursement of Rs 40 crore from GRIDCO, but the commission did not approve the same as it does not come under the purview of review application. The OPGC had sought guarantee commission and working capital loan to reimburse in tariff, which has also been rejected,” OERC Regulatory Affairs Director Priyabrata Patnaik informed.
