Puri: The office of senior Congress leader and Odisha MLA Suresh Routray’s son Sidharth Routray was allegedly vandalised by unidentified miscreants at Nimapara in Puri district.
As per information, some miscreants have broken liquor bottles in front of the gate of the office besides tearing banners and posters put up at the building.
After joining Congress, Sidharth had recently set up an office at Nimapara from where he is aspiring to contest the upcoming Assembly elections.
Claiming that some people have intentionally vandalised his office premise, Sidharth said banners put up at the place have been torn and set on fire. There are liquor bottles and stones thrown into the office, while the miscreants even attempted to break open the door, he claimed.
Stating that his office at Nimapara is very close to the local police quarters, he claimed that no one except people from the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) would muster the courage of indulging in such vandalism near the police quarters.
It may be recalled that veteran Congress leader and MLA from Jatni Suresh Routray had in February last year announced his retirement from electoral politics. He had stated that his sons – Sidharth and Manmath – would contest elections from Nimapara and Jatni respectively.
