Chhaya Sharma, the Indian police officer who cracked the 2012 Nirbhaya gangrape case, has been selected for the 2019 Asia Society Game Changers Award.
The awards by New York-based leading cultural organisation, Asia Society will be presented at a special ceremony next month.
Sharma was picked for redefining the role of a female police officer.
She is currently posted as deputy inspector general at the National Human Rights Commission of India.
The Asia Society Game Changers Award identifies and honours true leaders who are making a positive contribution to the future of Asia.
