Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Wednesday granted interim bail to Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs and Jal Shakti Bishweswar Tudu in connection with the case of assaulting two state government officers.
While granting the bail, the High Court directed Tudu to cooperate with authorities investigating the case filed against him in Baripada of Mayurbhanj district. The court fixed the date of next hearing of the case on March 8.
Tudu, who represents Mayurbhanj constituency in the Lok Sabha, had allegedly assaulted District Planning Board Deputy Director Ashwini Mallik and Assistant Director Debashis Mohapatra while the latter had gone to hold a meeting with the former at his office in Baripada on January 21.
Both officials sustained injuries with one of them fracturing his arm.
Tudu had refuted the allegations stating that it was a conspiracy on the part of ruling BJD to frame him in false cases.
Earlier, the high court had granted interim bail to BJP MP Jual Oram who faces a case of harassment by a woman activist of the party.
