Bhubaneswar: Taking a serious note of the alleged rape of a minor girl student by two teachers in Nabarangpur district, the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) has sought a report from the CDMO.
The OHRC took the action following media reports that about the alleged rape of the 11-year-old girl student by the headmaster and an assistant teacher of a school in Kundei of the district.
The incident, which took place on Tuesday, came to light after the rape survivor’s father filed a complaint on Thursday. In his complaint, it was alleged that the girl, a day scholar at the school meant for SC and ST students, was raped by the two on Tuesday during school hours.
It was alleged that the two accused teacher lured the Class VI student to the school’s toilet and raped her there. The girl revealed the incident after being taken to a hospital due to persisting pain. Police have detained the two accused teachers.
The OHRC has directed Nabarangpur Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO)-cum-Public Health Officer (PHO) to submit the report within four weeks. The Commission has also told the CDMO to ensure proper treatment of the girl in the hospital.
Meanwhile, Nyaya Paeen Ladhei Pariwar, a social justice group in Odisha, has filed a petition in the National Human Rights Commissioner (NHRC) seeking its intervention for stern action against the accused in the case.
