Ola Enters Self-Drive Space

Ola on Thursday announced its entry into the self-drive car-sharing service called Ola Drive. It is essentially hiring a car without a driver. It will start operations in Bengaluru first, then expand to Hyderabad, Mumbai and New Delhi, followed by other cities.

Ola Drive will let customers choose packages according to kilometers and hours. The company claims its service will be up to 30 per cent cheaper than competition.

Ola will have a fleet of 20,000 self-drive rental cars by 2020. All the cars will have Ola Play connected tech with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Ola promises 24/7 helpline access, an emergency button, real-time tracking and roadside assistance as well.

Ola Drive will face competition from Zoomcar, Revv, Avis, Myles and others in India.
