Bhubaneswar: An old male lion ‘Pichhan’ died in Nandankanan Zoo on the outskirts of the capital city on Saturday.
The 21-year-old big cat was undergoing treatment for several days and died of age related illness, Zoo authorities said.
Pichhan was brought from Sakkarbaug Zoo in Gujarat on March 23, 2013.
Following its death, the number of lions in the zoo has come down to nine with four male and five female lions.
