Cuttack: A 65-year-old man died and his grandson sustained critical injuries when crackers they were making in a village exploded on Monday morning.
According to sources, the incident took place in the thatched house of the deceased, identified as Debendra Samal, at Bailo village under Kishorenagar police limits in Cuttack district.
His five-year-old grandson Sandip, who was playing beside him was grievously injured. The duo was rushed by family members to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where Debendra was declared brought dead.
His grandson’s condition is stated to be critical, sources added.
Police have reached the spot and an investigation is underway.
