Old Man Trampled To Death By Elephant

Angul: An elderly man was trampled to death by an elephant at Karadapada village in Odisha’s Angul district on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Chandramani Nayak.

Sources said that Nayak had gone to a nearby field to attend nature’s call when he suddenly came across a wild elephant which trampled him to death.

Following information, Forest officials and police rushed to the village. The body was later sent for post-mortem.

“In the recent past, the area has witnessed loss of life and property as the elephants have frequently barged into the village, killed some villagers, damaged their house and destroyed paddy fields. The Forest department should take adequate measures to prevent the entry of the wild elephants into the human habitation”, said a villager.
