Berhampur: A 65-year-old woman was seriously injured after she accidentally fell into an under-construction lift shaft from the second floor of the Eye Department in MKCG Medical College and Hospital, here.
Immediately after the incident took place on March 31, the MKCG authorities had referred the woman to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar. It came to light after they brought her back due to non-availability of bed there on Friday and the woman’s son told the media after the hospital authorities’ negligence.
The woman, Kuna Sahu from Hugulapata village in Ganjam district, came to MKCG along with her son Dambarudhar to test her eye on March 31. She entered the under-construction lift shaft presuming it to be a toilet when Dambarudhar had gone to the ground floor to bring her blood report.
