Papu Pom Pom Serious But Stable: Family Sources

Bhubaneswar/New Delhi:  Popular Ollywood actor and comedian Papu Pom Pom is undergoing treatment at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi.

He is serious but stable, family sources told Odisha Bytes here on Wednesday.

The actor is being treated for jaundice and pancreatic ailment. Family sources also scotched rumours doing the rounds in social media and said doctors are closely monitoring Papu, who is in the ICU.

The actor had been undergoing treatment at SUM Hospital in Odisha capital since May 5. He was airlifted to Delhi in an Airbus on Tuesday afternoon on the advice of the doctors.

Meanwhile, Health and Family Welfare minister  Pratap Jena had a discussion with the doctors at AIIMS and requested them to provide better treatment facility to the actor for his speedy recovery.

The Odisha Cine Artist Association has donated Rs 5 lakh to the family members of Papu for his treatment.

“People of Odisha are praying for Papu. We will wait for his return from the AIIMS as soon as possible,” said Ollywood actor Sabyasachi.

Popular Ollywood actor and newly appointed chairman of the Odisha Film Development Corporation (OFDC), Kuna Tripathy said Papu was undergoing treatment at the SUM Hospital here after he was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis.

“His condition is now stable. Though there is no severe damage, still he is not out of danger. The nature of treatment he was given here will be continued at the AIIMS. Since better treatment facilities are available at the AIIMS, we are hopeful of his early recovery,” he added.

Haribhai Comedy Club along with media persons held ‘Deepdaan’ at Ram Mandir hre for quick recovery of Papu on Wednesday evening.

Papu was admitted to the SUM Hospital on May 5 after he complained of acute pain in the lower abdomen while he was on the way to his house to Bhubaneswar from Cuttack.

During his stay at the Hospital, the doctors diagnosed him with acute pancreatitis. Though his condition was stable for two days, his health condition suddenly deteriorated on Monday after he had severe chest pain. He was later shifted to the ICU.
