Bhubaneswar: Continuing his help to helpless, Ollywood actor Sabyasachi Mishra has come to the rescue of a poor girl with an unusual ailment.
After watching the video of the young girl Kuni Panda appealing for help on social media for treatment of her swollen right wrist, Sabyasachi extended a helping hand. He said he was pained and shocked to know excruciating pain of Kuni who faced amputation of her hand.
“I felt sad that her hand, which was alright seven months back, had swollen to this extent because of some disease and she was in unbearable pain,” said Sabyasachi.
On enquiring about Kuni, Sabyasachi came to know that she belongs to a very poor family of Balipada village under Sadar block of Puri district. She has a widowed mother and a younger brother.
On how her wrist get swollen, Kuni said her hand was injured after hitting a wall accidentally. Later, she also received electric shock on the same hand. Since then, the wrist has got abnormally swollen giving unbearable pain.
She had visited SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack and AIIMS in Bhubaneswar. She was advised for surgery which would cost around Rs 1.5 lakh. Since she could not afford the amount, she has been seeking help, she said.
Sabyasachi said after speaking to her over phone and going through her medical reports, he consulted some professors whom he knew and told her to go to AIIMS again.
“The diagnosis of Kuni’s disease has started and money won’t be a constraint for her treatment,” he said adding that he has taken the responsibility himself.
Meanwhile, Puri collector has sanctioned Rs 20,000 as medical assistance to Kuni from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
