Bhubaneswar: If Anu Choudhury’s first look for the upcoming Odia film ‘Nayakara Naa Devdas’ is anything to go by, the actress as Chandramukhi is sure to impress one and all with her intensity and poise.
The actress, who is known for getting into the skin of the character, is trying to create a new identity with Chandramukhi, who loved Devdas unconditionally.
“I am not only concentrating on the acting aspect of the role but also the costume and looks as these have to be in sync with time to create a lasting impression,” said Anu.
She had earlier worked on her appearance to look convincing as a journalist in ‘Sweet Heart’ and a thief in ‘He Prabhu Dekha De’. Anu was last seen in ‘Godfather’ opposite Siddhanta Mohapatra.
The epic love story by Bengali novelist Sarat Chandra Chatterjee has earlier been made into movies in Hindi, Bengali and Telugu. “The magnum opus that Sanjay Leela Bhansali created will remain unmatchable forever,” said director Mrutyunjay Sahu.
Asit Patra will be playing Devdas with Bhoomika Dash as his Paro in the Odia version of the film produced under the banner of Anjaneya Media.
“We have taken the original story and are trying our best to do justice to it within our budget. Attempt is being made to make it look like a period drama. There will be semi-classical dance and impressive dialogues, which the audience will instantly connect to,” he added.
The production team is yet to decide on the release date.
