Bhubaneswar: Ollywood is now coming out of the tough lockdown during the second wave of the pandenic.
The Odisha film industry is set to break the hiatus with reopening of cinema halls. One of the first Odia films to hit the screens will be a patriotic biopic on Odia martyr ‘Sahid Raghu Sardar’. The movie is set to be released in theatres on August 16.
It is based on the struggles of young freedom fighter Raghu Pattnaik against the British.
Raghu was a native of Barala village in Bayalis Mauja in Cuttack district. At a very tender age, he had developed a sense of revenge against the Britishers for their atrocities on Indians.
According to Ollywood insiders, it is the first biopic on a martyr from Odisha.
Actor Debashis Patra and actress Kabya Kiran are the leads in this Rajeeb Mohanty directorial.
The other star casts include Pintu Nanda, Akhaya Bastia, Jina, Rudra, Twinkle and Santosh.
Biswanath Patnaik has produced the movie and Dr Rajani Ranjan has written the dialogues.
The songs of the movie have been penned by Arun Mantri, Bijaya Malla and Ranjan Das while Bikash Sukla has scored the music.
Popular singers Humane Sagar, Asima Panda and Dipty Rekha have rendered their voices to the songs.
The movie was made under the banner Lok Vikash Cine Productions.
Notably, the movie was scheduled to be released in theatres on April 25. But, due to the second wave of Corona pandemic, it was postponed.
