Srinagar: As the National Conference-Congress alliance is all set to win majority seats in the 90-member Assembly and form the first elected government after the revocation of Article 370 in 2019, the choice of Chief Minister has kept everyone guessing.
However, putting a full-stop to speculations, NC president Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday announced that Omar Abdullah will be the chief minister of Jammu & Kashmir.
“Omar Abdullah will be the chief minister,” the senior Abdullah told reporters.
The NC president described the mandate given to the NC-Congress alliance as proof that people don’t want Article 370.
“The people have given their verdict and proven that the decisions taken on August 5, 2019 are not acceptable to them,” he said.
“I am thankful to everyone that the people participated in the polls and did so freely. I am grateful to God for the results.”
He said the new government will have a lot of work to do to end the suffering of the people.
“We have to end unemployment and address issues like inflation and drug menace. Now, there will be no LG and his advisors. Now, there will be 90 MLAs who will work for people,” he added.
