Bhubaneswar: Recording a surge in mineral output this fiscal, Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has posted Iron Ore production of 24.88 Million Tonnes (MT) as on December 31, surpassing the performance during the corresponding period of the previous year.
OMC – the wholly-owned corporation of the Odisha government – achieved overall mineral production of 29.03 MT (Iron Ore, Chrome Ore, Bauxite and others) as on December 31, 2025. The robust performance reinforces OMC’s position as one of the leading mining Companies in the country and sets the stage for a new production milestone in the FY 2025-26.
OMC’s performance in the third quarter of FY 2025–26 further underlines this upward trajectory. During Q3, the Corporation recorded a total mineral production of 12.94 MT, registering a growth of approximately 31.5% compared to Q3 of FY 2024–25, when production stood at 9.84 MT. The Q3 output included 11.23 MT of Iron Ore, 0.49 MT of Chrome Ore, 1.15 MT of Bauxite, and 0.07 MT of o
ther minerals, driven by optimised mining operations, favourable operating conditions, with safety as utmost priority, OMC said in a press release on Saturday.
With steady momentum and focused efforts in the Q4 of the present fiscal, OMC is poised to surpass last financial year’s total mineral production, marking the highest-ever mineral output in the Corporation’s history.
The strong production performance is driven by OMC’s team effort and continued focus on operational excellence, digital enablement, & efficient resource utilisation. The Corporation has been leveraging technology-led solutions, including its Logistics Management System (LMS) and Fleet Management System (FMS ), ensuring proper quality of minerals delivered to customers, dispatch planning, improve equipment utilisation, minimise downtime, and enable real-time monitoring of mining and transportation activities.
Alongside production growth, OMC remains committed to sustainable and responsible mining practices, with continued emphasis on scientific mining methods, safety, strict environmental compliance, afforestation initiatives, water conservation, and progressive mine closure measures.
The consistent rise in mineral output reaffirms OMC’s critical role in supporting Odisha’s industrial growth and the economy of the State, while steadily advancing towards a landmark year of record mineral production.
