OMDC Staffer Shot Dead In Odisha’s Keonjhar

Keonjhar: An employee of Orissa Minerals Development Company Ltd (OMDC) was allegedly shot dead in Champua area of Keonjhar district on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Sushaan Barik, a resident of Dalaki slum in Barbil.

Locals spotted the bullet-ridden body near an electricity grid under Barbil police station limits. The motorcycle of the deceased was also found few meters from the crime spot. Police have recovered two 9mm bullets and three empty liquor bottles.

On being informed, a team of police personnel rushed to the spot and recovered the body which was sent for postmortem.

Barik was shot in the head, police said.

Police have started an investigation into the incident,  while efforts are on to ascertain the reason behind the murder. Police are also looking  if the murder was an outcome of past enmity or something else.

Family members of the deceased said Barik did not return home since Friday evening. They further claimed  that killing might have taken place due to some property dispute.
