OMFED Water, New Ice Cream Products To Hit Odisha Market Soon

Bhubaneswar: Diversifying its product portfolio, Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers Federation (OMFED) is set to launch packaged drinking water and widen its ice cream basket adding new flavours.

Elaborating on its upcoming products, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallik said discussions in this regard are currently in progress with the OMFED board. The new products will be introduced in the market after receiving the board’s approval.

The proposed launch of packaged drinking water and new ice cream variants is expected to further expand OMFED’s presence in the consumer market.

Speaking about quality amid reports of adulteration involving milk, paneer and chhena (cottage cheese) in different parts of the state, the Minister said OMFED maintains strict quality standard and a three-tier checking process is followed for its milk.

Parameters such as fat content are checked to ensure quality and adulteration is not allowed at all, he said, adding, “If any adulteration is detected, action is taken.”

Stating that the procurement price of OMFED milk has been increased by Rs two per litre, the Minister said the price revision is aimed at ensuring better returns to dairy farmers and helping them become more self-reliant.
