Omicron Effect: PM Modi’s Visit to UAE, Kuwait Postponed

New Delhi: Concerns over rising Omicron cases have resulted in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the UAE and Kuwait being postponed.

Modi was scheduled to travel on January 6, 2022.

Hindustan Times reported, quoting South Block sources, that the PM’s trip could be rescheduled sometime in February, if the Omicron situation is under control.

Omicron has replaced Delta as the dominant variant of coronavirus in the US and European nations like the UK and France.

The numbers have been growing in India too, with close to 900 cases of the new variant having been reported across 20 states so far.
