Jaipur: Omicron cases are galloping in India.
On a day when the first confirmed case of the new variant of coronavirus was detected in Delhi and seven more in Maharashtra, nine people in Jaipur – including four of a family – from Adarsh Nagar have tested positive for the Omicron strain of COVID-19.
The four family members had recently returned from South Africa, informed Health department officials.
Rajasthan Health secretary Vaibhav Galriya said all nine cases were confirmed after genome sequencing of their swab samples, done at Jaipur’s state-run Sawai Man Singh Hospital.
The total number of Omicron cases now stands at 21.
